Why DPC?
Direct Primary Care (DPC) is a very different payment model for primary care being embraced by patients, physicians, employers, some insurers and many policymakers across the United States. The most important element of DPC is an enduring and trusting relationship between a patient and his or her primary care provider. There are a little over 2000 DPC style doctors in the country right now. I would say the main reason to consider DPC is “I am fed-up and I can’t/ won’t take it (the current health system), anymore!!!” DPC doctors believe that healthcare must provide more value to the patient. And healthcare can, and must, be more patient-responsive, less invasive of our privacy, and less expensive than it is today. The ultimate goal is better personal health and well-being, not simply the treatment of disease. DPC doctors are committed to ensuring that American healthcare delivers on these goals.
