Contact UsWhat Is A Basic Hearing Test?
A basic hearing test is a diagnostic test to measure hearing function and identify hearing loss. Having adequate hearing is an integral part of your overall health and quality of life. At Abundant Family Care, we recommend an annual hearing exam as a preventive measure to monitor the level of your hearing throughout life. If you or a family member notice hearing issues, you can request a hearing test more frequently. If you would like to learn about the benefits of basic hearing tests, please schedule an appointment with Dr. Tod C. Heldridge at our Southlake, TX office.
What Should I Expect With A Basic Hearing Test?
Basic hearing tests can be completed as a diagnostic test or as part of an annual physical exam. Dr. Heldridge and his team can utilize these tests as a preventive measure to check for signs of hearing loss or to determine the source of a hearing issue. When you come in for your basic hearing test, both your right and left ears will be checked for the possibility of hearing loss. Hearing loss can be caused for multiple reasons, including injuries, age, ruptured eardrums, congenital defects, and other conditions. After checking both the right and the left sides and documenting any findings, Dr. Heldridge will share the results with you and discuss the next steps. If you do not pass the basic hearing test or there are signs of hearing deficits, you will be referred for further testing with an audiologist.
